Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ
Question:
Need feedback and product info. I want to flat 4 tow a 2009 Silverado 1500 4WD LTZ behind a 2017 Class C Jayco Greyhawk 29ME on a Ford E-450 chassis. Do your homework to figure tow bar, braking and wiring required. Thanks

Hopefully my dog doesn't eat it.
In addition to the tow bar, supplemental braking, and wiring you also need a base plate kit and likely a high-low adapter to tow your 2009 Chevy Silverado.
Since you're towing a full size truck you want a tow bar with a higher capacity so I recommend the Roadmaster Blackhawk, part # RM-422. It's rated up to 10,000 pounds. For the safety cables used the coiled # RM-643.
The MX Base Plate Kit, part # 3154-3, pairs well with the BlackHawk. The MX kit doesn't require the crossbar and uses pins to connect. This makes the connection easier and quicker when hooking up.
For the wiring kit I recommend the diode kit, part # RM-15267. This powers the vehicle's tail lights by connecting to the Jayco's and includes the cord to go between the two. The kit provides a 6-way connector at the front of the truck.
For a supplemental braking system the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO, part # SM99251, is a favorite around here because of how reliable it is and it's easier to install than many other permanently installed systems. Once it's installed there isn't any further setup needed. With the DUO, if the brake lights on your truck don't illuminate when its ignition is off or it's in the "tow" position you'll also need a stoplight switch. If your Chevy has adjustable pedals then the correct switch is part # RM-751220. If the pedals aren't adjustable you need part # RM-751421 instead.
Finally, you'll likely need a high-low adapter. I've attached an article to help you determine the correct rise or drop your setup requires. I've also linked our selection of adapters for you to look at once you know what you need.
In addition to my recommendations I've linked some articles on flat towing that you may find helpful.
