Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver for 1997 Freightliner FL70 with 34 Inch Frame

Question:

I am interested in a high weight bearing trailer hitch for a 97 Freightliner fl70, with a 34inch frame. I understand I would need to drill the holes necessary for installation. Something with approximately a 10inch drop would be preferred. The truck has a straight frame at the hitch location Thank you for your assistance.

The best option we have for your 1997 Freightliner with 37 inch frame is the Curt Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs, 22" to 72" Wide # 13703. This receiver is adjustable and will give you the most drop of any of our RV rated trailer hitch receivers if your vehicle is an RV. It will give you about a 3 inch drop from the frame bottom to the top of the receiver.

If you need a deeper drop, I recommend going with the Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Service Body Trailer Hitch Receiver - Weld On - Class V - 2" # 41990-16. This will allow you to customize the drop needed with brackets that are 16 inches. You will want to note this trailer hitch receiver is not rated for use on an RV, so the weight ratings will not be accurate on this application, but if you have an industrial truck it will hold its ratings.
