Disc Brake Availability for 10,000 lb Dexter Torsion Axles

Question:

I need to replace the complete brake assemblies on 10000 lb. heavy duty Dexter axles with rubber torsion suspension. This is on a 2015 Wilson livestock trailer with 17.5 wheels which currently has electric over hydraulic drum brakes. Is there a conversion kit to disc brakes and what would the price be. Thank you

The Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2R1058D13 looks like it is exactly what you are needing.

It is compatible with 10,000 lbs Dexter torsion axles, 17-1/2 inch wheels, and a hydraulic system. It does require a psi rating of 1,500 so as long as your EOH actuator can give that much output this is a viable option.

To finish confirming that this kit will work great for your application you will just need to make sure that you have a 7 bolt brake mounting flange location and that your current wheels use an 8 on 6-1/2 inch bolt pattern.

Since you have a hub and drum assembly you will also need a new hub that is compatible with a rotor. We have a few different assemblies that you can choose from. Part # 8-288-3UC1 comes with inner bearing # 387A and outer bearing # 25580, part # 8-214-5UC1 comes with inner bearing # 395S and outer bearing # 387A. Part # 8-214-5 is just the hub itself and requires inner bearing # 395S, outer bearing # 387A, oil seal # 10-56, and lug nuts # 6-109 which are sold separately.

I have attached a review video for you to check out.
