Roof Cargo Bag Options For a 2007 Ford Focus Hatchback Without a Factory Roof Rack

Question:

Hi, Im interested in putting a part #th868 thule roof top bag on our 2007 Ford Focus 4-door hatchback. We dont have a roof rack. Can it mount directly to the roof, or do I need a roof rack? If so, can you recommend one? Thanks.

The Thule OutBound Roof Bag, part # TH868, needs to be attached to a roof rack. Since your 2007 Ford Focus 4-door hatchback does not have a factory rack, you will first need to install one.

If your Focus currently has a bare roof, I would recommend the Rhino-Rack Roof Rack, part # RRVA118B-2, # RRRLKVA, and # DK005. Then you will be able to attach the Rola Platypus Roof Bag, part # 59100.

Another option would be to use a roof cargo bag that does not require a roof rack. Checkout the Rightline Gear Sport 2, # RL100S20, which has extended straps that run through the inside of your car and along the roof to stay secured to the vehicle.

You will want to check your vehicles owners manual for the vehicles roof weight capacity as you will not want to exceed it.

I have linked a video installation of Yakima Roof Rack on another vehicle.
