Recommendations for Carrying Skis on the Roof of a 2008 Honda CRV with a GPS Antenna
Question:
Hello - I have a 2008 Honda CRV with factory roof racks. I am interested in a roof top cargo box and like the Thule Force XL but am concerned it might be too long for the vehicle, especially because there is a factory GPS antannae mounted on the roof about 12 from the rear. I would either need to mount the rear of the box forward of the antannae thereby rendering the front of the box that much further to the front and over the windshield or I would need to remove the GPS antenna which presumably will cause the GPS not to work. I looked at the Pulse L and thought it would be a good solution until I realized that it will probably be too short to fit my skis, thereby reducing its utility. Any suggestions at all would be appreciated. Thanks

I checked with Thule and the Thule Force XL, part # TH6358B, is a confirmed fit for your 2008 Honda CRV with factory cross bars. This box measures 84 inches in length, you will want to measure your roof to see if this would be too long to be comfortable for you. I would suggest measuring from the GPS antenna forward to see how far the box would reach over the windshield, if at all.
This box can carry 6-8 skis that are not more than 198 centimeters in length.
The Thule Pulse L, part # TH615, is also a confirmed fit for your CRV. This box is 76 inches in length and can hold up to 6 skis that are not over 180 centimeters in length.
The Thule Sidekick Roof Mounted Cargo Carrier Box, part # TH78GC, that you referenced is a shorter box that would most likely not fit your skis inside of it.
I would find out the length of your skis and then also consider how many pairs of skis you are planning on transporting when deciding which box would work best for you.
