Recommended Tire Chains for a 2006 Dodge Magnum
Question:
I may take a winter trip this year where we may hit snow and ice. My vehicle is a 2006 Dodge Magnum Hemi with AWD. My inclination is to put chains on the rear axle if needed. In the past Ive lived in the mountains in Calif. and many locals would chain up only the front wheels of their four wheel drive vehicles, but I preferred chains on the back. I had an International Scout 4WD with V-8 and 4-speed. One nasty winter it snowed 3 ft. of wet snow overnight and because of the way it was parked I could only access the front wheels to install chains. Our one lane un-plowed road was 500 ft. from the highway and halfway there the front differential blew the spider gears. A very expensive day after having our road plowed, a tow truck and differential re-build. Any suggestions for the Magnum?

According to the owner's manual for your 2006 Dodge Magnum, tire chains can only be installed on the rear two wheels of the vehicle and must be Class S complaint. With this in mind, I recommend using the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains part # TC1553 for 215/65-17 tires or part # TC1555 for 225/60-18 tires.
The Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains are Class S compliant and have a diamond chain pattern that will increase traction and stopping power when driving forward and during turns. They offer a quick and easy installation with integrated tensions that let you control the fit on your tires.
I have attached a review video of these chains for you as well. If you have a different size tire please let me know what size you have and I can further adjust my recommendation.
