Installation Instructions for the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX1708 for a 2014 Buick Enclave

Question:

I love your installation videos and have found them very helpful. I am about to install the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms Item # BX1708 on a 2014 Buick Enclave but I cant find an applicable video. I found one for a 2012 Buick Enclave but that uses a different Base Plate Kit. Any suggestions? Thanks,

I am glad that you have found our installation videos helpful.

Although the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX1708 has been confirmed to fit your 2014 Buick Enclave without the brush guard, as of yet (September 2017) we have not had the opportunity to shoot a video of the installation process of this base plate kit being installed on an Enclave.

I recommend checking out the installation instructions which have been attached to this answer page for you to review. They are not the same as a video, but Blue Ox has done a great job at providing pictures and pointing specific things out in their instructions. You should have no problem following the instructions for installation of this base plate kit.

Keep in mind that you will also need a Tow Bar, Safety Cables, Vehicle Tow Bar Lighting, a Supplemental Braking System, and most likely a High-Low Adapter. If you do not already have these pieces of equipment for your 2014 Enclave then I have some recommendations for you.

For a Tow Bar I recommend the Blue Ox Avail Tow Bar # BX7420 which will work great with your Blue Ox base plate kit and comes with Safety Cables. Both the Tow Bar and Safety Cables are rated for 10,000 lbs so they will do a great job pulling your Enclave.

For Vehicle Tow Bar Wiring I recommend the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267 which will provide an easy and quick way to connect the wiring on your Enclave to your motorhome once it is installed. Some fuses need to be pulled on your Enclave before flat towing and so I also recommend installing the Roadmaster FuseMaster # RM76514 for the 20-Amp ATC/ATO Fuses and the Roadmaster FuseMaster # RM-76517 for a 50-Amp FMX Fuse. These will keep you from having to remove and replace the fuses every time that you flat tow.

Most States now require the use of a Supplemental Braking System for flat towing, and since it makes the whole setup safer for you and those traveling around you we also recommend using one regardless whether it is required or not. I recommend the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO # SM99251 which is a one-time install that requires you to only flip a switch for activation after it has been connected to your motorhome. You will also need to install the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751221.

Most flat towing setups require the use of a High-Low Adapter to properly pull your vehicle. I have attached our selection of adapters for you to filter through as well as a helpful article on how to choose the correct one.

I have also attached some sample installation videos for you to reference.

Please be sure to follow any special instructions in your owner's manual before flat towing.
