Recommended Anti-Sway Bar and Steering Stabilizer for 2015 F53 Chassis Motorhome

Question:

On your 2015 Thor ACE motorhome on Ford F53 chassis, the size of the vehicle often will have the effects you mentioned. The best solution is to add Anti-sway bars and a steering stabilizer. I recommend adding the Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar for Motor Homes # RM-1139-145 first as the rear sway is what you feel the most when crosswinds and passing semi trucks come and this model is the correct fit for your vehicle weight. This system mounts to the rear axle and the frame to balance the weight transfer and reduce body roll. It gives you a level ride even when turning. Then I recommend the Roadmaster Reflex Steering Stabilizer with Mounting Brackets for Class A Motor Homes # RM-RBK22-RSSA. This will help you with the steering and driver fatigue portion. This system actively works to keep your motorhome in line even when you have crosswinds, uneven pavement, or a tire blowout. It minimizes wander and corrects oversteering for a smooth ride. This combination will make your travels much more enjoyable, especially for the driver.

I reached out to my tech contact at Roadmaster and based on the additional information you gave there is actually a special fit sway bar that we didn't carry until now that is the correct fit for your vehicle. You will want the Roadmaster # RM-1139-146 for your 2005 Thor Ace. The # RM1139-145 is for vehicles with 20,500 lbs GVWR and they don't recommend it for your 18K chassis. This will install in the same way as the # RM1139-145 you referenced but is made for the models 15,700 lbs-18,000 lbs like yours. For SumoSprings that will also help reduce body roll and give you a more stable ride, I recommend the SumoSprings Maxim Custom Helper Springs - Rear Axle # SSR-184-40-1 and the SumoSprings Rebel Custom Helper Springs - Front Axle # SSF-170-40-2. Both of these are rated for your 18,000 lb GVWR. These springs can compress as much as 80 percent to help your factory suspension bear up under the load. They will help even out the weight to level your motorhome and minimize sway. Each spring works independently to offer the best support. Adding these springs will also help with the ride of your motorhome in addition to the Roadmaster Sway Bar.
