Available Hitch Receivers for Use on 2006 Dodge Sprinter with TommyGate Lift

Question:

Hi, I have a 2006 Sprinter with a two-cylinder lift gate. It has a heavy duty steel frame that gets kind of low to the ground, and i want to know if there is a readymade 2inch receiver mounted on a plate, that can be bolted or welded to the steel frame of the liftgate. Itd have to be easily removeable if face-mounted so as to not interfere with the lift gate, or itd have to be undermounted onto the bottom of the frames beam. Bolt holes would have to be drilled if bolting was the method. Do you recommend something for what appears to be a custom situation? or are there a few things you can recommend that might work? Class 3 is good, and class 4 would be great. thanks.

Your Sprinter's TommyGate lift does present a bit of an obstacle for hitch installation. I would not attempt such an installation unless you can confirm with the TommyGate folks that your unit has the capacity to support a hitch-mounted load. I tend to doubt this.

But we do have frame-mount hitches made specifically for RVs that can be either welded or bolted on. These all have 2-inch receivers and offer gross trailer weight ratings of up to 500-lbs. All are shown on the linked page. We even have a model, part # C13701 from Curt, that has 2-inches of drop in its receiver tube for better clearance around structures found on RVs. This particular hitch has the highest weight ratings of any we offer and it fits frame widths from 18-inches all the way up to 51-inches.
