What is Negative and Positive Wheel Offset
Question:
in my world drag racing we talk wheel measurements by inch back spacing When talking offset, is negative moving towards the axle and positive outward?

Yes, a negative offset moves the tire further away from the axle/trailer, while a positive offset will move the tire closer to the trailer.
Most of the trailer wheels we carry have a zero offset, which means that the the mounting surface is on the same plane as the center line of the wheel. This is done to equalize the weight of the trailer load. The offset of our wheels is listed under "Specs." For instance, the offset for the Dexstar Steel Spoke Trailer Wheel # AM20741 is listed as 0.
I've attached an image demonstrating negative and positive offset.
