Yes, I called my contact at Curt Manufacturing and they informed that the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11028 is not compatible with the appearance package on your 2011 Mazda MX-5 Miata because of the larger rear valence. The hitch receiver will bolt directly into the frame in the factory pre-drilled holes, however, will interfere with the factory bumper. You would either have to swap rear bumpers for a model without the appearance package or drill a hole into your current rear bumper.
For a cargo carrier compatible with this receiver, I recommend using the 20x48 Curt Cargo Carrier part # C18110 as this carrier only weighs 30 lbs which will leave you with an additional 170 lbs of cargo to store as long as your vehicle is rated for the tongue weight capacity of the hitch receiver.
I have attached an installation video of this hitch on a similar 2010 Mazda Miata for you.
