Trailer Harness Wiring Harness Recommendations for a 2011 Mazda CX-7
Question:
I dont get it. I have a new CX-7 i SV. You show 2 products that are for this vehicle, #C55593 and #118405 but I read that the C55593 does not provide all the wiring necessary for trailer lighting. Can you explain what this wiring harness does and does not control? Thanks.

The determining factor for which trailer wiring harness you need is whether or not your vehicle has the towing package. If you do not know if your vehicle has a tow package or not you would need to contact the dealer with the VIN and they could tell you.
Another way to tell is to locate the connector that mates with the # C55593 harness and use a circuit tester to test each wire function. If all functions work, left and right stop and turn signals and tail light signals, then the vehicle has the tow package and the tow package harness will work. If one function is not present, usually the tail light function, the T-One wiring harness # 118405 will need to be used.
So, if your 2011 Mazda CX-7 has the tow package you would want the Tow Package Vehicle Wiring Harness, part # C55593. Installation instructions and installation video are linked below.
If your 2011 Mazda CX-7 does not have the tow package from the factory, you would want the Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118405. Instructions are below.
As long as you order the right kit for your vehicle and follow the instructions you should have no problem installing a 4-Way trailer connector at the rear of your vehicle that functions properly.
