As long as the axles on your trailer have a 4-bolt mounting flange pattern for the brakes, the Dexter 7 Inch Electric Brake Assembly # 23-47 for the Left Hand and # 23-48 for the Right Hand will work great as replacements for your surge brakes. These are 7 inch diameter drums with a width of 1-1/4 inches.
Along with the assemblies themselves, you will need to also install a trailer brake controller in your tow vehicle if you do not already have one. I highly recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885. This is a great proportional controller that will activate the trailer brakes at the same time and with the same intensity that you apply to them in your vehicle. We also have a large selection of Plug-In Adapters that make the controller installation quick and easy. If you are able to give me the year/make/model of your vehicle, I will be happy to see if there is a plug-in adapter available.
I have also included an article on installing electric brakes that you might find helpful.
