Can Curt RV and Camper Hitch # E-100 be Used to Flat Tow a Volkswagen Dune Buggy
Question:
Can I pull a VW dune buggy with this product? The buggy weighs 1400LBS, and will be pulled with a towbar. How do you find out what the bumper is rated for?

Curt RV and Camper Hitch # E-100 is rated for 350 pounds tongue weight and 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight so it can handle your 1,400 pound Volkswagen dune buggy. But as you alluded to the bumper this hitch is mounted to is the limiting factor. If the bumper itself does not show any capacity information then check the literature for the vehicle to determine the weight capacity of the bumper. If that information is not available then you would need to contact the manufacturer.
If you cannot find the information or find out that the bumper is not rated for this application (or not rated high enough) then you will need a hitch that attaches to the frame. If you could tell me what the hitch is going on I could make a specific recommendation.
