Transmission Cooler and Temperature Gauge Recommendations for a 1996 Ford F-250, F-350
Question:
If I get a bigger transmission cooler do I leave on the one that came with the truck and just add another one? and do you have a gauge for the trans where I can monitor the heat in the transmission. Please get back with me. Thank you

You will want to keep the factory transmission cooler and use the aftermarket one to supplement the cooling rather than just replace the factory cooler. The idea is that, working together, an aftermarket cooler and the factory cooler will be more efficient and cool the transmission fluid better than just one cooler working alone.
We do have a handy analog gauge you can use to monitor the transmission fluid temperature. Take a look at the Derale Temperature Gauge Kit, # D13009. This gauge can also be used to monitor engine oil temperature (though not at the same time).
We have many different transmission cooler recommendations for your 1996 Ford F-250/350. While the coolers themselves are not vehicle specific, the fittings used are. I have included a link to all of the coolers we recommend for your truck. Just select your engine size to see the coolers. The required adapter fittings will be listed with each cooler. I have also included a link to our transmission cooler FAQ.
