Recommended Parts Needed to Carry a Generator on Rear Bumper of 2017 Forest River Wildwood
Question:
I have a 2017 Forest River Wildwood 202RDXL and would love to carry my generator on a rear bumper shelf added to the bumper of my trailer. Is that possible? What would I need?

If you only have the bumper at the back of your Forest River Wildwood then you will need to start off by selecting a trailer hitch receiver. You will need to measure to see if you have a 4 x 2, a 4 x 4, or a 4-1/2 x 4 inch bumper. Once you know that you can select the correct receiver for your application. For a 4 x 4 option (which is the most common) I recommend going with the Ultra-Fab 2" Motor Home Trailer Hitch Receiver # UF35-946402. This will give you a receiver with a 2 inch opening that has a Tongue Weight (TW) rating of 350 lbs.
From here we can then select a cargo carrier. To help keep the carrier more stable you will want to get a fixed carrier. I recommend the popular Pro Series # 63153 which is rated for 500 lbs but since your receiver is rated for less, that will be the deciding factor.
This setup doesn't include a hitch pin and clip. I recommend going with an anti-rattle lock like part # 63232 to help reduce movement of the cargo carrier and to deter theft.
I have attached some review videos for you to check out.
