Since you have a battery on the trailer you will want to use something larger than a 4-Way connector. A 4-Way will only supply lighting on your trailer. It will not be able to provide a wire to charge your trailer battery.

I would recommend to use the Hopkins 4 Pole to 6 Pole and 4 Pole Wiring Adapter, part # 37175. This adapter will install on your vehicle and allow you to have a 6-Way connector and also a 4-Way connector. You would plug in the 4-Way on your vehicle to the back of this adapter. The remaining wires would be white, blue, and red.

The white would be grounded to the vehicle, the blue would be used for electric brakes (if needed), and the red wire would be a 12 volt wire that can be used to charge your trailer battery. You will need to run the red wire to the vehicles positive battery terminal using 10 gauge wire (#10-1-1) and an inline 40 amp circuit breaker (# 9510).

On the Hopkins adapter # 37175, it has the center pin as the blue wire for electric brakes and the red wire is the pin at the 2 oclock position. The 6-Way round on your trailer could have the two wires switched , so you will want to test the 6-Way on the trailer with a circuit tester and find out if you need to switch the wires. The wires on the connectors can be switched, so you will want to make sure that when the 6-Ways are connected that the wires will line up correctly.

I am including a link to a FAQ page on trailer wiring.
