Recommended Motorcycle/Scooter Carrier With Hitch Receiver For Motorhome

Question:

Our RV already has a 2inch square receiver/hitch. She may have been unsure of the terminology. Can we mount your etrailer Motorcycle Carrier for 2inch Hitches - 500 lbs # e98873 and add steel bracing to the frame members that held the missing bumper? Thank you

You do not need a bumper to add a hitch and carrier for your scooter. I recommend the Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs, 18" to 51" Wide # C13702 or the # UF35-946403 which adjusts from 47-1/8 to 77 inches. Either of these hitch receivers will mount to your motorhome frame so a bumper is not needed.

This can be used with thetrailer Motorcycle Carrier for 2" Hitches - 500 lbs # e98873 for your scooter. I recommend the Motorcycle Soft Loops # 06303 along with the Erickson Ratcheting Motorcycle Tie-Down Straps w Long Safety Hooks - 1"x6' - 400 lb - Qty 2 # EM05710 to secure your Buddy Scooter to your carrier.

Where your previous bumper mounted to your RV, the frame and brackets are durable and strong enough to handle the etrailer Motorcycle Carrier for 2" Hitches - 500 lbs # e98873. You would need to do the customizing of the support, but RV bumpers are strong enough to handle most receivers and have the weight rating of 350 lbs like most RV hitches. In fact, many people will add a hitch like the Curt RV Bumper 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver # E-100 or the Ultra-Fab 2" Motor Home Trailer Hitch Receiver for 4" x 4" Bumpers - 3,500 lbs # UF35-946402 which you may choose to use with your supports to add the carrier. The 350 lb weight rating will be enough to handle your carrier and your Buddy Scooter, so just make sure your supports are as strong as your bumper would be.
