We do have adapters so that the D ring bumper on your 2009 Jeep Wrangler will be compatible with a tow bar, but you will need a new tow bar. The adapters that will allow you to flat tow your Wrangler come from Roadmaster. Blue Ox tow bars and Roadmaster base plate kits already require an adapter to be used together. The adapter for your bumper is not compatible with the Roadmaster Base Plate/Blue Ox Tow Bar adapters.
The Roadmaster Adapter # RM-035 will attach to 3/4 inch shackle mounts on the bumper of your Wrangler. This adapter has attachment pins that fit 7/8 inch and 1 inch diameter mounting holes.
The other adapter from Roadmaster is part # RM-035-1 and will attach to a 1 inch think shackle. This will fit 7/8 inch and 1 inch diameter mounting holes as well.
A tow bar from Roadmaster that works with the adapters and has a 10,000 lb capacity is the Roadmaster BlackHawk 2 All Terrain # RM-422 and is what I recommend for your application.
Keep in mind that you will need Safety Cables, Light Wiring, a Supplemental Breaking System, and possibly a High-Low adapter as well.
For Safety Cables I recommend the Roadmaster # RM-653, and for lighting I recommend going with the Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-152-98146-7. Keep in mind that you will need to disconnect the battery. You can use part # RM-766 to make this much easier for flat towing.
One of the most popular Supplemental Braking Systems that we carry is the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # SM99251 for its reliability and how easy it is to use.
If your tow bar will have to adjust more than 3 inches then you will need a High-Low adapter to ensure a level towing experience. I have linked our selection of high-low adapters for you to look through should you need one.
You will want to be sure to consult your owner's manual for any special instructions for flat towing.
I have also attached a few installation videos that you can reference for installation.
