For your 2016.5 mid-year model Mazda CX5 with a 2.5L engine, I recommend the Curt Class III Receiver Hitch # C13315. This hitch is confirmed to fit your vehicle and provides a 2 inch receiver opening with a 600 pound tongue weight capacity and a 4,000 pound towing weight capacity. I recommend also checking the capacity of the vehicle itself as listed in the owner's manual, as this will likely be the limiting factor. I have attached an installation video on your Mazda CX-5 for you to check out.
Keep in mind that Curt requires that all non-trailer loads such as bike racks and cargo carriers be supported by stabilizing straps such as # 18050. Failure to do this will void the trailer hitch warranty with the manufacturer.
If you do not wish to use a stabilizing strap with hitch-mounted accessories, I recommend going with the Draw-Tite Class III Max Frame Receiver Hitch # 76138. This is also custom-fit for your vehicle and provides a 675 pound tongue weight capacity and a 4,500 pound towing capacity. Draw-Tite does not have the same requirement as Curt when it comes to using stabilizing straps.
I have attached an installation video on this trailer hitch as well for you to look through.
