Recommended 4-Bike Hitch Rack for Class II Hitch on 2014 Ford Fusion

Question:

Im using a Curt Class 2 trailer hitch #12091 on my Ford Fusion 2014 Energi and Im wondering if this bike rack will clear the bumper. The reinforcement plate attached to the upright bar and the shank looks pretty big and reducing the clearance between the bumper and this rack.

When we installed Curt 1-1/4-inch Class II hitch # C12091 on a 2014 Ford Fusion we found that the hitch pin hole was 5-3/4-inches forward of the rear edge of the bumper cover. This is shown in the linked video at the 1:30 mark. This means a hitch bike rack would ideally provide at least 7-inches of clearance to avoid vehicle contact.

The Thule Hitching Post Pro 4-bike carrier # TH934XTR will provide plenty of clearance to avoid contact with the car while you drive. This rack offers excellent value and I recommend using the Snug-Tite hitch accessory # THSTL2 to keep the rack steady and secure and cable lock # e98891 to secure the bikes.
