For your 2011 Subaru Forester, I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118467 over the Curt # C56040. They are very similar units that plug into the cargo area of your vehicle, but we have had less issues with Tekonsha converters going bad versus other brands. I've attached a video install for you on a 2011 Forester.
