Wiring Connection on 2017 Thor Compass RV to Roadmaster Tow Dolly RM-2050-1 & Magnetic Lights
Question:
The compass is on a Ford Transit HD350 chassis. I plan on purchasing the RM-2000-1 tow dolly and the Tekonsha 90885 brake controller so I want both the dolly lighting and electric brakes to work using a simple plug connection. I also want to purchase the RM-2120 tow lights so will they require an entirely different plugin? Thanks.

For an easy electrical hookup between your 2017 Thor Compass RV and the Roadmaster Tow Dolly # RM-2050-1 my recommendation is to wire in a 7-way RV style socket/plug combination.
Since the dolly comes only with 4-pole wiring you will need a 7-way trailer-side plug like 8-foot # H20046 or 6-foot # H20044 and a junction box like # 38656 to install the 7-way on the dolly. You can use ring terminals like # 44-5310A. This 7-way will carry all lighting signals plus the brake controller's output to operate the dolly's electric brakes.
On the RV you will want to install the Hopkins Endurance Multi-Tow 7-, 5- and 4-Way Flat Vehicle Socket # HM48470 which has BOTH a 7-way connector for the dolly's new 7-way plug and a 4-pole for the magnetic towing lights # RM-2120. This 7-way/4-pole vehicle-side socket has screw terminals on its rear for making all connections to the RV wiring.
You can refer to the linked article for help with the wiring configuration.
