The best way to help your Ram pickup with a 7-way to get along with your 6-way-equipped trailer is to upgrade the trailer to a 7-way. This is a simple process of installing a 7-way plug like # H20046 with a junction box # 38656 and ring terminals # 44-5310A. All you need to do is apply 12V power to each trailer wire to confirm its function and then install each wire in the junction box at the appropriate terminal.
Although adapters do exist, they can be tricky to use since a 6-way can be wired in two different ways, with the center pin carrying either brake or 12V power. For this reason and to avoid having additional adapter connections that can cause trouble in the long run it is best to update the trailer to match the vehicle.
