Can the Roadmaster Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier Tow a Trailer
Question:
So as long as the trailer tongue weight does not exceed the 400 lb. stated tongue weight limit, is it safe to tow a trailer with the Roadmaster 195225 Hitch Mounted Spare Carrier, or does the manufacturer just flat out say do not pull any trailer? It was said in another answer that a tow dolly would work and the video hinted that a light trailer would probably be ok. Thanks,

The Roadmaster Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier # RM-195225 referenced in your question is designed for mounting hitch accessories and flat towing. The manufacturer states that this product is not rated for towing a trailer. The spare tire carrier does have a tongue weight of 400 pounds and flat towing capacity of 10,000 pounds, but keep in mind that using the carrier will reduce the tongue weight capacity of your trailer hitch by 33 percent.
This is a great option for carrying your spare tire while retaining the use of your hitch for accessories such as bike racks or cargo carriers. I have attached the installation details for you to check out.
I recommend using our etrailer.com Spare Tire Lock # e98892 along with the locking pin # BD580402 to secure your tire and hitch-mounted accessories.
