Tire chain use on any vehicle is subject to the guidance of the auto maker. Some vehicles can use chains only on certain tire sizes; other vehicles may be able to use chains only on one of the two axles; still others may be able to use only a particular low-profile chain known as an S Class chain which does not require as much clearance in the wheel well.

I advise checking your printed owner's manual before installing any tire chain. Check the index under the heading 'tires' to find information about chain use. If your Sprinter has been converted into an RV you will also want to check the RV manual as it is possible that some additional equipment installed by the RV maker (that is not on the base vehicle) could also affect chain use.

A chain that is the correct size for the tire and that is installed properly should not make any contact with the leaf spring in the suspension. Other components such as brake lines are generally going to be the items of concern with tire chains.

After you review your manuals you can use the linked page to enter your tire size to then see available chains. You can also refer to the linked articles for more information.

All tire chains require extra care when driving and reduced speeds - no more than 35-mph. Never drive on a bare road with chains installed on your tires.
