Choosing Correct Snow Tire Chains for 235/55-18 Tires on a Lexus 400H

Question:

Two questions: 1 what does the clearance in mm refer to? 2 my car is a Lexus 400h and the space between the tire tread and the cuff covering the shocks seems close - will these chains fit ok. My tires are P235/55R18 99V. Thanks

The clearance that appears on the product pages for tire chains refers to how far the chain rises above the tire. Anything less than 15mm is considered a Class S.

The # TC1555 chains will fit the 235/55R18 tire size, but in order to determine if tire chains can be used and if there are any restrictions or recommendations from the vehicle manufacturer, be sure to consult your owners manual.

I have included a link to our tire chain FAQ for reference.
