Closing The Jaws On Demco 5th Wheel Hitch After Uncoupling
Question:
I recently purchased and installed the Demco hitch DM6076P-UL-16K. I have a question about uncoupling. To uncouple do I simply pull the handle out to the open position and pull the truck forward? Will the jaws on the hitch close back once the fifth wheel has been disconnected or will I have to drive around with the jaws in the open position?

On your Demco Hijacker Premier Series Ultra Slide # DM6076P-UL-16K, you will simple pull the handle out to the open position as you mentioned and pull forward to disconnect. The jaws will not automatically close, they will remain open for you to reconnect unless you manually close them. You can do this carefully with your hand although I don't recommend that for safety, or you can use a tool to put force on the spring loaded jaws. You may want to use the king pin lifting bracket # DM6100 to close your jaws if that is important to you.
