No Right Turn Signal Or Brake Light From T-One Converter on 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Question:
We have a 2003 grand cherokee and have been towing the same trailer for about 2 years and now the right turn and right brake light doesnt work. We have power going into converter and nothing coming out. Sounds just like the other guys problem.

It sounds like your converter has shorted and will need to be replaced. However, more than likely there is an issue on the trailer wiring or light that has caused the converter to short. You will want to check the trailer lights and wiring to make sure there is not any exposed wires or the bulbs need to be replaced.
It could be that moisture got into the right side tail light when the trailer connector was connected to the vehicle, causing the converter to short out. This could happen if you have a boat trailer and leave the trailer connector connected when launching or pulling the boat in and out of water. It is a good idea to disconnect the wiring to trailer before putting trailer in water and also allowing water to drain out of tail lights before reconnecting trailer connector.
A preventive measure I would recommend is using sealed LED tail lights, like the Optronics Trailer Lights, part # STL9RB. LED lights have a sealed unit where the diodes are to keep water out and would be a good option for any trailer. The advantage of LED lights is that they have a brighter light output but require less energy to be powered, and they are in sealed units.
