Hitch and Accessories for Towing Dirt Bikes on Trailer With 2010 Chevy Equinox
Question:
Would the Draw-Tite Hitch # 36408 work to tow two dirt bikes weighing about 500 lbs, not including the trailer weight? Vehicle is 2010 Chevy Equinox

Expert Reply:
The Draw-Tite Class II Trailer Hitch, item # 36408, would work great for towing a small trailer, as long as it does not weigh more than 3500 lbs (trailer + load). However, I usually recommend that people at least consider going with a Class III hitch when they have the choice. A Class III hitch, like item # e98865, would allow for greater flexibility in the future, as you will have a better selection of accessories, such as a cargo carriers and bike racks.
You'll also need a trailer wiring harness like part # 118494. The Class II hitch includes a ballmount and a pin and clip, but you would also need a trailer ball. For a 1-7/8 inch ball, use # 19256 or for a 2 inch ball use # 19258.
If you go with a Class III hitch, the ballmount is sold separately. You'd need part # C45010 and # 19260 for a 1-7/8 inch ball or # 63845 for a 2 inch ball.
I'll link you to install details for the hitch and the trailer wiring.
