Is the Brake Light Relay Needed when Installing Invisi-Brake on a 2012 Jeep Wrangler

Question:

Hello I am in the process of installing an invisibrake system In a 2012 jeep jk. I was trying to wire up the sensor wire that goes back to the motor home to the brake light switch but have discovered the brake lights do not light up unless the ignition is on ? Is this normal for the jk? I have installed a invisibrake on a tj and I found the hot wire when depressed but this Jk does not light up unless the key is all the way on? I have installed the road master light and bulb kit I am thinking I am missing something here? Thanks in advance

There are a lot of caveats for when the brake light relay # RM-88400 is needed or not needed. But we have taken the guess work out for you. The relay is required on the 2012 Jeep Wranglers. If you turn the key to the position it is supposed to be in for flat towing (consult the vehicle owner's manual) that is the position of the key you would use to test whether or not the brake lights come on.
