I looked at an online copy of the owner's manual for your 2011 Cadillac CTS and it states that your car can tow no more than 1,000 pounds. You should check your owner's manual to verify this.

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11196 has a maximum towing capacity of 2,000 pounds however this will not increase the capacity of your Cadillac. You are limited by the lowest rated factor which in this case is the car.

If you're going to use the hitch to carry anything other than a trailer (Like a bike rack) you'll also need the Curt Trailer Hitch Support Strap # 18050 in order to be within the guidelines of Curt's warranty.

Since you mentioned towing you may also need a wiring harness for the CTS. The Curt T-Connector # C56044 is confrimed to fit. This installs by plugging into factory connectors behind your tail lights.

The Curt Class II Drawbar # C45521 is then recommended with either a 2 inch, # A-82, or 1-7/8 inch, # A-80, hitch ball. You'll also need a pin and clip, # F-4.
