Although the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 and Primus IQ # TK90160 electric brake controllers are very similar they do have some key differences as well. For one the P3 is designed to work with electric and electric over hydraulic brake systems. The Primus IQ will work with electric brakes. Also the Primus IQ will operate a maximum of 3 axles and the P3 will work with 4. The display on the P3 is more informational as opposed to only showing one feature at a time. Take a look at the two videos on them that I've attached to see the difference in the displays. Another feature of the P3 is that it lets you store up 5 different settings configurations if you have multiple trailers to tow. Finally, the P3 has a higher vertical range that it can be mounted. The P3 automatically levels when mounted within a 360 degree vertical range and the Primus IQ must be angled between 0 and 90 degrees.
They are both proportional brake controllers so they will apply the brakes in the same fashion. They also install the same, using # TK93VR in your 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Looking for a recommendation on a Brake Controller (Tekonsha IQ or P3 or Draw-Tite IV) for a 2020 Ford Explorer, with factory towing packing, towing a Casita 17' travel trailer; estimated wet weight between 3,600 and 4,000 lbs. Will be using an Anderson Weight Distribution Hitch.
