Will 500 lb Weight Capacity of Surco Cargo Carrier # 52018 Change If I Use Folding Adapter # 52015
Question:
I want to know if I use your 2 folding basket adaptor, does it retain the 500lb tongue weight? If not, what is the weight limit? Thank you.

Expert Reply:
If you use the Folding Basket Adapter, part # 52015, your cargo carrier will still retain the 500 lb weight capacity.
The non-folding cargo carrier Curt, part # C18150, can be used with this folding Basket Adapter and it still has the same capacity, 500 lbs, with or without the adapter.
Whenever using a cargo carrier you want to make sure not to exceed the tongue weight capacity of the hitch and your vehicle. When using a cargo carrier, the weight of the cargo carrier must also be factored in as tongue weight in addition to your cargo.
I have linked a video review of the Folding Basket Adapter, part # 52015, that you may find as a good reference.
