Can Trailer be Raised by Installing Longer Hangers

Question:

Presently my trailer has schackles that are 2.25 inches hole to hole. I need to raise back of trailer approx .5 inches to clear driveway. Will your 3.5 inch hole to hole be a concern to my axle and raise it approx .5 inch ? Ty

Expert Reply:

Replacing your trailer's hangers with longer ones will raise it. Using # 28-5, which are 3-1/4 inch hangers, will likely give you the clearance you're looking for.

Another option is an over-under kit. This moves the leaf springs over the axle lifting the trailer. It's often referred to as "flipping the axle' although this isn't the acutal process since trailer axles are bowed and cannot be install upside down. We carry two over-under kits depending on your axle size, part # K71-385-00 fits 3 inch axles and part # K71-384-00 is for 2-38 inch axles.
