Wiring and Base Plates Needed To Flat Tow a 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a Falcon 2 Tow Bar
Question:
Which wire diagram do I use for my 2010 Jeep to tow behind our motor-home? Is there a connection on my Jeep for easy installation? I have a Falcon II hitch, which tow adapter do I need for my Jeep?

When using the Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit, item # RM-154, you will need to determine the tail light wiring system on each vehicle. If your motor home has a trailer connector at the rear of the vehicle to start with, or it is a combined system that has the brake and turn signals on the same circuit you will need to use the combined RV to separate towed vehicle wiring diagram, second one down on the RM-154 product page. This is the most likely situation for wiring your Jeep.
If you would like your separate left and right turn signals to function also you would need to install two extra diodes, item # RM-792, and install the wiring using the same diagram but adding the Vehicle to Vehicle Taillight Converter, item # 118158, to separate out the turn signals for the towed vehicle and adding the extra diodes on the Jeep turn signal circuits. Most people opt to have the brake lights and turn signals on the same circuit when towing and do not purchase the extra diodes.
If your motor home does not have trailer connector and has a separate wiring system you will need to install a converter, item # RM-732 to combine the brake and turn signals at the rear of the towing vehicle. The diagram on the # RM-732 product page is the one to use for this application.
Finally, there is a system available for your 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee that does not require installing diodes and splicing into the vehicle tail light wiring. The RoadMaster Tail Light Wiring Kit with Bulbs, item # RM-155, installs separate from the towed vehicle wiring and provides stop, turn and tail light functions. I checked with RoadMaster and there is room in the tail light housing to install the bulbs in the # RM-155 kit on your vehicle. You will need to drill a 1 inch hole behind the red lenses on your vehicle to install this kit. Many people choose this option for ease of installation and to eliminate any warranty issues with the vehicle electrical system.
The Recommended Base plate kit for your 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee is the Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit, item # 1427-1. This base plate kit is designed to attach to the Falcon 2 Tow Bar, item # RM-520, with the quick disconnects included with the Falcon 2. If you need a set of car side quick disconnects to attach to your tow bars cross bar, the RoadMaster Quick Disconnects - Car Side Only, item # RM-222, would work for you. If you need the cross bar for your Falcon 2 you would need the Roadmaster Quick Disconnect Tow Bar Base Assembly, item # 910021-00, which includes the car side disconnects mentioned earlier.
I have attached video installations and a wiring FAQ for you to review that should help with your installation.
