Trailer Hitch for a 1988 Chevy G30 Customized into School Bus
Question:
Im looking for a hitch for a 1988 Chevy G30 that has been converted to a school bus. Can you tell me the distance between sides and bolt hole locations for this hitch? Mainly Im interested in the width, I can weld the hitch to the frame if the bolt holes dont line up.

The bolt holes will line up. The fact that the 1988 Chevy Van was converted to a bus doesn't since it is still on a G30 chassis/frame. The issue that you have to be concerned about is how the body of the bus will affect the fit of a trailer hitch.
The issue is that the hitches available were designed for the stock vans. The bus body likely hangs a little lower and further back from the rear axle than the stock van body which will cause fit issues. This is the case the vast majority of the time but since we know that we can get ahead of it before it becomes an issue.
In situations like this I recommend going with a weld-on heavy duty truck hitch and not a custom hitch. We have # 41990-07 that has 7 inch brackets and # 41990-16 with 16 inch brackets. The tube is 44 inches long. There is also a 62 inch model with 16 inch brackets, # 41991-16.
