Bike Rack and Hitch Recommendation for 2007 Toyota RAV4
Question:
Good Morning I plan on buying a hitch from your company, primarily to carry 2 bikes. I noticed you also sell bike racks. I can kill 2 birds wih one stone at your site. A plus! My car is a 2007 Toyota RAV4 which has the external spare tire and cover mounted on the rear door. Which manufacturer do you feel makes the better rack that would clear the spare tire cover and offer maximum ground clearance? Thanks for your time

We certainly can help you kill two birds with one stone! One bike rack that I really like that we had the opportunity to test on a 2007 Toyota RAV4 just like yours is the Thule Helium part # TH9042. This 2 bike rack is very lightweight and has all of the features people want in a bike rack like locks an anti-sway cradles. If you check out the video I attached you can see us installing this rack in a 2007 RAV4 just like yours.
For a hitch the best option is the etrailer Class III hitch part # e98864 which is a confirmed fit and will give you a 2 inch hitch opening size. This is the preferred hitch size as it has the higher capacities and more accessories made for it.
If you plan on carrying any womens or alternative framed bikes without horizontal top tubes you may also be interested in purchasing a Kuat Bike Frame Adapter Bar # UB01 to provide a horizontal top tube on your bikes to provide an attachment point. I attached a review video for this product also. This will allow the bikes to be carried more level and will provide more ground clearance.
