Hitch Mounted Bike Rack Allowing Full Cargo Area Access for 2007 Toyota RAV4

Question:

Hey there! I purchased the Curt 2inch for my 2007 Toyota Rav4 and am now looking at platform bike racks. Between the Thule T2-2 bike Rack and the Kuat NV, which one extends further that will be most compatible with the rear opening? Thanks!

Both the Thule T2 Pro XTR # TH69TX and the Kuat NV 2.0 # NV22G are excellent bike racks. They both weigh in around 50 lbs to carry 2 bikes. The T2 can easily switch to a 4-bike carrier and then weighs 96 lbs. Both hold the bikes from the wheels, without any frame contact. Both racks have a 60 lbs per bike capacity.

Both racks are compatible with your RAV4, but the Thule T2 Pro XTR would be sitting too close to the spare tire in order to use the folding feature that allows the rack to fold up flat against the rear of the vehicle when the bikes are removed. The NV 2.0 # NV22G offers plenty of room so the rack can be folded against the rear of the vehicle.

Both racks will tilt rearward for easier rear of vehicle access, but because the RAV4 rear door swings to the right instead of lifting up, you'd most likely need to remove the bikes to fully open the rear door.

I've linked you to some product demonstration videos featuring the racks I've recommended.
