How to Select Correct Ball Mount for Towing Utility Trailer with 2010 Toyota Camry
Question:
Do you know what the typical drop would be for a hitch installed on a 2010 Toyota Camry pulling a utility trailer? Looking at these other parts if that helps: 36416 118482 C40002

When we installed Draw-Tite Class II hitch # 36416 on a 2010 Toyota Camry we found that the top of the receiver tube opening was positioned 10-1/2-inches above ground level. This is shown in the linked installation video at the :25-second mark.
Selecting the correct ball mount to keep your hitched trailer level (for the best handling) is easy; you can refer to the linked article that explains how to measure your coupler height to determine the amount of drop or rise you need. If the hitch height is greater, use a ball mount with a drop; if the coupler height is greater, use a ball mount with a rise. I also linked our main page for Class II ball mounts.
You'll also need a hitch ball of the correct size for your trailer coupler and one that has the appropriate shank dimensions for the ball mount you select. For example, let's say you need ball mount with 3-inches of rise, like # C45520. With this you can use either 1-7/8-inch ball # C40001 or 2-inch ball # C40018.
Towing a utility trailer will also require a wiring harness if the trailer has lights. You can use Tekonsha # 118482. An installation video for the wiring kit is linked for you too, along with a helpful general article on towing.
It is always a good idea to check your owner's manual for the car's towing capacity before making any trips with your trailer.
