High Capacity Hitch Options for Class C RV on 2003 Ford E450 Van Cutaway Chassis
Question:
Good afternoon. I am interested in replacing the receiver hitch on my rv. The rv is a 2003 ford e450. I would like 8,000-10,000 lb capacity. The existing holes in the frame are 39-5/8inch on center. Please advise. Thank you!

We do have a hitch solution that would work for you, but it's a weld-on hitch, part # 41990. The hitch has a 16000 lb towing 1600 lb tongue weight capacity, which wouild be limited by the towing capacity of your E450 if its capacity is lower.
You would also need mounting brackets that are long enough so the receiver tube clears the underside of the rear bumper. To determine which bracket set you need, you'd need to measure downward from the top of the frame member until you clear the lowest point of the rear bumper.
If your measurement is less than 5-9/16 inches, you can use the # 4907 bracket. The underside of the hitch would sit about 9-1/2 inches below the top of the frame member, so you'll want to check if you'll have enough ground clearance under the hitch.
We also offer the # 4916 bracket, which probably wouldn't offer enough ground clearance for you, but I'll give you the dimensions anyway. If the measurement from top of frame member to bottom of bumper is less than 14-3/8, this bracket would work. The lowest point of the hitch would sit 18-1/4 inches below the top of the frame member.
