The Andersen Aluminstinger # AM3503 has a towing capacity of 8,000lbs and a tongue weight capacity of 800lbs. If your boat trailer and cargo are below this weight then the Andersen Alumistinger Ball Mount will perform great.

Typically tongue weight is 10-15% of the trailer, so for your 5,000lb boat would be anywhere from 500-750lbs. If you are planning on upgrading your boat then I would recommend a higher capacity ball mount like the Draw-Tite # 4280. This ball mount also has the 1 inch rise and 2 inch drop and is rated for 12,000lbs towing and 1,200lbs of tongue weight.

Depending on your boats coupler you will want a 2 inch ball like # a-90 or a 2-5/16 inch ball # 19286 for the Draw-Tite # 4280. A ball that will work in the Andersen ball mount is the # 40038 for 2 inch or # C40007 for 2-5/16 inches.
