Can I Bypass the Factory Transmisson Cooler on a 2007 Nissan Frontier
Question:
Have a 2007 Nissan Frontier V6.I would like to install this aux cooler and completely bypass the radiator w/c is prone to cracking. Will the cooling be enough in this set up, that is together with the factory installed cooler? Watch the video for a 2009 Nissan Xterra and I believe it is also applicable to my truck.

We do not recommend bypassing the factory cooler with a supplemental transmission cooler, but if you are going to do so, I strongly suggest using the largest and most effective cooler that will fit in your engine compartment. Keep in mind, these transmission coolers are designed to be supplemental coolers to the vehicle's cooling system, not independent coolers.
As far as coolers go, the most effective design is a stacked-plate cooler like the Derale High-Performance Transmission Cooler, # D52506. If you go with this cooler, you will also need barb hose fittings, # D98200, hose clamps # D13008, and high-temperature hose, # D13017. We also carry a bracket kit, # D50020, but the installation will be up to the installer. There are no vehicle specific mounting kits, so the installer will have to determine the best location for the installation. The most effective locations are right behind the grille, in front of the radiator. This will offer the best air flow.
We also offer remote mount coolers with a fan like the Derale Hyper-Cool Transmission Cooler, # D15960. This could be installed anywhere you have room because the fan will provide the air flow and it will not depend on natural air flow.
I have attached two help articles on transmission coolers as well as a link to all of the transmission coolers that we offer for you to look at. Transmission coolers are not vehicle specific, so you will want to make sure you choose the largest cooler that will fit in behind the grille or in the engine compartment if you go with a remote-mount cooler.
