Could the Interior Light RVILL34 Install on Trailer Ceiling that Has Lights that have One Wire

Question:

I have a 1994 United enclosed trailer with two dome lights that use a 1016 bulb. These are inside on the ceiling and work off of a wall switch. As long as the wall switch is on I can turn the dome lights off and on individually with a switch that is on the lights themselves. I took the screws that hold the light to the ceiling and found one wire connected to the light and one wire that is taped up. It is like this on both lights. Everything works great except that I am wanting more light because I am wanting to put a camera inside to keep a eye on motorcycles. Will part # RVILL34 wire in and work just the same as my current dome lights? Thank You,

If your current dome lights only have one wire wired up that would indicate that it's grounding through the sheet metal roof of the trailer. All lights need a power and a ground and most likely the wire was taped to the roof (not ideal at all) or the lights were grounding through the mounting hardware and the second wires were for another function or a brighter illumination.

The part # RVILL34 has a power and a ground wire. As long as you can provide both those circuit this light is going to work great. In the absolute worst case scenario you might need to run a ground wire for this light but most likely you could make it work similar to how your old light was installed.
