Comparison of Class III Trailer Hitches for 2015 Jeep Renegade
Question:
I have a 2015 jeep renegade 4wd, limited. What is the difference between hidden hitch 87681 and the curt class three tube recliner C13269. One says drill, one no drill curt but hole enlarging? Do they both have the same ground clearance after installation? Ill be doing local light weight boat towing. Thanks.

Both hitches you mentioned, the Draw-Tite # 76021 and the Curt # C13269 have slightly different weight capacities. The Draw-Tite model has a 4500 lb towing/675 lb tongue weight capacity. The Curt has a lower capacity, at 3500 lb towing/525 lb tongue weight. Keep in mind that the towing capacity of the hitch could be limited by the capacity of the vehicle, if it's less than that of the hitch.
The Draw-Tite model will require drilling a 1 inch access hole, unless the vehicle has the factory tow hooks. The Curt Hitch won't require drilling, but you'll need to use a rotary tool like a Dremel to enlarge the frame member access holes so the installation hardware can be fished through. I'll link you to some FAQ articles that explain this process fully.
If the Curt hitch used for non-trailer loads like bike racks or cargo carriers, their warranty guidelines stipulate that a stabilizing strap like # 18050 must be used to provide extra support for the hitch. the Hidden Hitch has no such requirement.
I'll also link you to install details for both hitches, as well as to an install video showing the Hidden Hitch model being installed on a 2015 Renegade.
