Ability to Convert Surco Hitch Mounted Cargo Carrier to The Folding Model
Question:
I was debating whether to get the fold up model or the regular one. Is there a hitch extension which folds up which could be added at a later date if thats what you want? And how quickly can if fold up? thanks

Yes, there is a hitch adapter extension, the Folding Basket Adapter for 2 inch Trailer Mounted Cargo Carriers, part # 52015, which will allow you to convert the regular Cargo Carrier, part # C618150 to a folding Cargo Carrier. This setup will work for you.
If your cargo covers your vehicle lights, you could add the light kit like the etrailer License Plate and LED Tail Light Mounting Kit for Hitch Mounted Cargo Carrier
Item # e98943-44LED.
The carriers that you referenced are no longer available.
I have attached videos of this combination.
