Comparing Regular and Deep Drop Bumper Trailer Hitches for a 1964 Chevy 1/2 Ton Truck
Question:
I think this is the correct hitch for my 1964 chevy 1/2 ton with an 8foot bed...but Im not exactly sure what you guys are talking about with the regular bumper or the deep drop bumper. How can I tell, or where should I measure from so I can tell what I have and order the correct part? And thank you in advance for the help.

A standard bumper looks like a regular old bumper that goes straight across at the top and bottom and might have a cut out in the center for a license plate but the cutout does not drop below the bottom of the bumper.
A deep drop bumper will have the cut out in the middle but drops below the bottom of the bumper (at the center) so that it angles up from the center to the outer edges of the bumper. I have included a picture that better illustrates this.
For models with the standard bumper the most popular hitch is # 41947. For models with the deep drop bumper the most popular hitch is # C15511. For either hitch you can use etrailer ball mount kit # EBMK4. And you can hardwire in a 4-Way flat trailer connector using # 18252.
