Bike Rack Recommendation for Heavy E-Bikes

Question:

Your suggestion of the Yakima HoldUp, part # Y02443, may not work on all bikes. It would be fine for the non-fender bikes but not so for bikes with fenders. I have used the Kuat and Hollywood HR1450E brands for most of our bikes but really like the older style Swagman from years ago. Problem with the HR1450E, you are unable to fold it up, completely because of the BOXED BRACE on the back. Do you have other suggestions for E-Bike racks?

Expert Reply:

For a bike rack designed for electric bikes that can also fold up (in a way) and does not clamp down on the tires the best option is the Thule EasyFold # TH903202.

The issue is that because E-bikes are so heavy it is not a good idea to have a rack that has too many points of movement (like folding features) because those introduce points of weakness where a rack could fail.
