The Tow Ready Multi-Plug T-One Connector Assembly, # 20135, will work on your 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee if you have a factory 7-Way connector on the vehicle now. It is a replacement part that will change your factory 7-Way to a 7-Way and 4-Pole trailer connector.
It will connect to the factory connector located under the rear of the vehicle and the 7-Way and 4-Pole will mount into the space where the 7-Way was located.
If you do not have the factory 7-way connector on your vehicle then you will need the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness, # C55369. This part will connect to your factory connector that is located behind the interior trim panel in the cargo area, on the driver's side. This will give you a 4-Pole flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle.
To get a 7-Way and a 4-Pole at the rear of your vehicle you can add the Hopkins Adapter 4 Pole to 7 Pole and 4 Pole, # 37185. It will plug into the 4-Pole flat trailer connector that you installed and have 4 extra wires to connect.
The 4 extra wires are:
White - connect to a good, clean ground
Black - for 12 volt power supply (if needed)
Blue - for electric brakes (if needed)
Purple - for Auxiliary/Reverse lights
You do not need to hook up the Black, Blue or Purple wires if your trailer does not require these functions.
I am sending a video link to the installation instructions for the T-One wiring harness.
