Wiring Harness and Brake Controller Fit 2013 Toyota Tundra
Question:
My truck is a 2013 Toyota Tundra. I do not have the Tow Package. Your product HM11143395 is the plug I need. However, I see you caution that if a vehicle does not come with the tow package that certain lights will not work without a convertor. Can you help me with this converter? Also - I need a break control for my Tundra. Thanks

In order to determine if you can use the Hopkins Tow Package Wiring for Toyota Tundra # HM11143395 that you referenced, you will first want to check for the mating connectors at the rear of your truck, near the bumper.
If your Tundra has the mating connectors, one with 5 pins and the other with 2, you will want to use a circuit tester, like # PTW2993, to test the functions of each of the pins on the vehicle connectors. I have attached a photo of the connectors on the wiring harness with their functions labeled to help you find the mating connectors and determine their functions.
After testing the pins, if you find that they all test correctly, then the # HM11143395 connector will work well for you. If the pins do not all test for function, it may be that additional fuses are needed to complete the tow wiring circuits. You can check your owner's manual or power distribution box to find the fuse locations for the tow light circuit.
If you do not have the connectors under your vehicle, let me know and I will be happy to find a wiring harness for you. I am not familiar with any convertor for this product that you mentioned.
The brake controller I recommend is the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller # 90885. The Prodigy P2 is a proportional brake controller that features an easy-to-read LED display, offers 3 boost levels to adjust braking power, and performs a continuous diagnostic check to alert you to any possible problems.
If your Tundra has a brake controller installation port, you can use the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter # 3040-P to install the brake controller. The brake controller port should be located underneath and to the left of the steering column. We have had several customers indicate that their connector was located high up, under the side kick panel on the driver's side under the dash. Another place we have found the plug is above the emergency brake pedal. You will be looking for a 5 pin connector that will mate with the connector on the # 3040-P. I have attached a photo of this connector for you.
If you do not have a brake controller adapter port, please let me know and I will be happy to provide further installation steps.
I have also attached some installation videos that may be helpful to you.
